DEAR WORLD,

100 VOICES, ONE MESSAGE

Dear World,

is a storytelling and advocacy initiative by CodeGreenAfg, launched in October 2024. The project invited over 100 girls from across Afghanistan to write letters beginning with “Dear World,” and ending with hope.

In a time when classrooms were closed, voices censored, and futures restricted, these letters became a new way to be heard. Each letter is a window into the lives, dreams, and struggles of Afghan girls who refuse to be forgotten. In this past four years, Afghan girls have been silenced, their education restricted, their opportunities stripped away, and their potential dismissed.

Dear World began as a response to that silence.

We asked one simple question:

If you could speak to the world, what would you say?

The answers came in hundreds of handwritten letters, stories of loss, fear, hope, resilience, and dreams for a future where every girl can learn freely.

Beyond Letters

  • #100ActionsFor100Letters

When over 100 Afghan girls wrote their Dear World letters, their words became a collective call for action. But letters alone are not enough, so we launched #100ActionsFor100Letters, a grassroots movement transforming those voices into real, measurable change.

  • Advocacy Toolkit

To empower others to join this movement, CodeGreen Afghanistan created the Advocacy Toolkit: “100 Letters, 1 Mission.” This toolkit offers: Practical steps for organizing advocacy actions at the local level, Resources for educators, activists, and allies who want to amplify Afghan girls’ voices.

  • Letter Reading Circles

Across the world, Letter Reading Circles have become safe spaces for dialogue, reflection, and action. In classrooms, homes, and online spaces, girls and allies gather to read a letter aloud, discuss its message, and commit to one meaningful action.
