About Us

CodeGreenAfG is a youth-led initiative dedicated to empowering Afghan girls and refugee youth through education, advocacy and technology.

The movement began in 2021, when Afghan girls were banned from schools and universities under Taliban rule. Amid this crisis, our founder, Muzhda Akbari, saw that education could not stopโ€”even when classrooms were closed. From a small refugee home in Pakistan, she began teaching girls how to code, proving that learning could still thrive despite barriers. What started as a handful of coding lessons grew into CodeGreenAfG in 2023: a platform that combines digital skills training, access to books, and global advocacy for education rights.
